PSGPC takes responsibility for the upkeep, restoration, and general maintenance of Sikh gurdwaras. This includes structural repairs, cleanliness, and preservation of important religious sites.

1920s
The Origin

Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) was created in 1920s by struggle of Sikhs.

1947
Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB)

After 1947 partition of Punjab, all religious properties of Sikhs came under Evacuee Trust Property Board.

1999
Constitution

On 11 April 1999, Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee was constituted under the ETPB chairmanship of ex-DG, ISI Lt. Gen. (Retd) Javed Nasir.

Mission of PSGPC
Preservation of Gurdwaras & Sikh Religion in Pakistan

The mission of the PSGPC is to preserve and maintain Sikh religious sites, particularly gurdwaras, across Pakistan. It is responsible for the protection, upkeep, and restoration of these sacred places. Additionally, PSGPC works to safeguard the well-being of the Pakistani Sikh community and recover Sikh relics and heritage items that belong to gurdwaras.

The committee serves as a bridge between the Sikh community and the Pakistani government, ensuring the preservation of Sikh culture and religious practice in the country, though it operates under the ETPB’s control and not as an independent Sikh-led body.

Pradhan PSGPC | Minister for Minorities Affairs

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora is a prominent Sikh leader and entrepreneur from Pakistan, affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) party. Born on October 11, 1974, in Nankana Sahib, he became the first Sikh to hold the office of Provincial Minister of Punjab. He has been a dedicated advocate for Sikh rights and interfaith harmony, spearheading the landmark Punjab Sikh Anand Karaj Marriage Act in 2018. He was appointed Minister for Minorities Affairs on March 7, 2024, by CM Maryam Nawaz. He also serves as the President of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee.
